The media friendly Stefani kept the band's name in the spotlight during a lengthy break from recording, in particular regarding her on/off romance with Bush singer Gavin Rossdale (the couple were finally married in September 2002 in London, England). A new single, "Ex-Girlfriend", was released in February 2000 in advance of the laboured Return Of Saturn , the long awaited follow-up to Tragic Kingdom . Much better was the following year's dancehall and new wave-influenced Rock Steady , featuring the transatlantic hit singles "Hey Baby" and "Underneath It All". The same year, Stefani teamed up with rapper Eve on the transatlantic hit single, "Let Me Blow Ya Mind". Despite No Doubt's creative and commercial renaissance, Stefani's growing interest in solo projects and acting work saw the band increasingly sidelined as the new millennium progressed. An interesting cover version of Talk Talk 's classic mid-80s hit "It's My Life' was released to promote 2003"s career-defining compilation set.
No Doubt and Blink 182 will team up for a coheadlining U.S. amphitheater tour beginning June 1 in Indianapolis and wrapping June 26 in San Bernardino, Calif. The summer dates will be planned around No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani's work on an Interscope solo album and her role in the upcoming Martin Scorsese film "The Aviator."
It's been a while since we've been on the road, so we're really excited to go out again and celebrate the release of our singles collection ["Singles 1992-2003"]," No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal says in a statement. "I know we will have a great time with the Blink guys." Adds Blink singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge, "This is a great opportunity to see two bands from Southern California that have history spanning over a decade. We're honored to be sharing a stage with them again like we did 10 years ago." The group began a 23-date tour of Europe, Australia and Japan Friday, Feb. 6 in London.
