The Washington Redskins turned what is perceived as the greatest rivalry in the NFL into a rout with a 35-7 trouncing of the Dallas Cowboys. The win leaves the Redskins two games behind the New York Giants, who they host this weekend, and right in the thick of the wild-card hunt. They are also now tied at 8-6 with the Dallas Cowboys but hold the tie-breaker with a 2-0 record in head to head match ups this season. The Redskins dominated from the start. The offense was able to move up and down the field freely by mixing in a lot of wide receiver screens with the running game. The defense completely shut down the Cowboys. They gave up a couple big plays but really put pressure on QB Drew Bledsoe all game long, sacking him 7 times and knocking him down 11. Tight end Chris Cooley stole the show, finishing the day with three touchdowns. If the Redskins can close out the season with two more victories, they stand a good chance of making the playoffs as a wild-card team and a slim chance of winning the NFC East.
