McNabb may be done for year
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb may have surgery and be out for the remainder of the season.
McNabb has been nursing a sports hernia all season long and has also had problems with his groin, which he reaggravated on Monday night. He saw a specialist who has recommended he have surgery immediately.
McNabb decided to play out the season even with the hernia injury because it didn't affect him too much and can only be fixed through surgery.
He will definitely not be starting at quarterback this week. Instead, backup Mike McMahon will be taking snaps under center. Koy Detmer will serve as the third-string quarterback.
The Eagles have falled to 4-5 on the season after Monday night's loss and are in danger of falling out of the NFC East and wild-card races.
