The Virginia Cavaliers came from behind to earn a surprising win over the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday. The Cavs won 18-17 at Maryland on the Terps’ homecoming night. Keon Lattimore and Lance Ball each had a rushing touchdown for Maryland in the first half, giving the Terps a solid 14-3 lead. They started losing control and momentum when quarterback Chris Turner was sacked in the endzone at the end of the third quarter. Mikell Simpson scored both of Virginia’s touchdowns and had 92 yards on the final drive alone. The Cavs either passed or handed the ball to Simpson on all but one play in the final drive of the game which started at Virginia’s ten yard line. Simpson caught five passes, ran nine times, and could not be stopped, eventually landing in the Terps’ endzone to score the winning touchdown with sixteen seconds remaining in the game.
