The Baltimore Ravens are looking reminiscent of the 2000 Super Bowl team, but this time they might be better. The defense has performed far beyond expectations, which were high coming into the season. After a 2-0 start in which the defense has been stifling and the offense has been more productive, fans in Baltimore are beginning to think about the playoffs. The Ravens made key additions on both side of the ball that are paying off tremendously. Steve McNair has provided the spark that the offense needed to finally become competent. The main knock against the Ravens since they became a team was that they did not have a quarterback capable of leading a drive and putting up points when the defense wasn't getting the job done. With McNair, the offense can finally carry the team when it needs to. On defense, the largest addtion has to be defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, both figuratively and literally. The man is huge. He is a true run stopping defensive tackle that just chews up blockers. His presence inside frees up some of the other defensive playmakers to roam the field and get addition pressure on the quarterback and force turnovers.
