Steve Harvey Biography

Steve Harvey has found success as a stand-up comedian, sitcom star and television host, all the while embracing his prominence in the African American community and the hip hop genre.

Harvey started his stand-up career in the 80s, and held the hosting position for It’ Showtime at the Apollo” for some time. He then worked his way to a slot on The WB network with The Steve Harvey Show, which ran from 1996 to 2002. The show was extremely popular with African Americans.

After ending the show, Harvey began working with the Kings of Comedy Tour with Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Bernie Mac. The tour eventually became a documentary by Spike Lee, The Original Kings of Comedy.”

Harvey has become a staple on Black Entertainment Television, and he also began a record label and released a CD of up-and-coming hip hop artists. He also wrote a book, Steve Harvey’s Big Time,” which was also the name of a variety television show he hosted on The WB from 2003 through 2005.

Harvey has also dominated the airwaves - he hosted The Steve Harvey Morning Show from 2000 through 20005.
